.... John Heward and I had a long friendship dating back to the 1970s. We had many good times. We routinely played snooker on the other side of these walls for the better part of forty years.. as the walls of this painting studio became denser, revealing a history of prolific activity. In 2018 I asked if I might photograph this space. John between the north and west walls was the first of many. The top three images below are of the north wall and two large surfaces on the east wall. The smaller prints are my excavations.
